Congratulations on getting to Week 3. You are doing some great work! This week, we dig deeper into concepts related to problem solving. We start off by discussing the principles of unit analysis. In this discussion, you learn about how to read units and how to convert one type of unit to another. You will revisit the topic of operations with fractions that we worked on in Week 1. Feel free to review that section if you need some more practice before diving into this chapter. Finally, you learn about the metric system and how the scientific notation you learned in Week 2 applies to this system.

In addition, you will familiarize yourself with the meanings of tricky verbiage that is often found in math problems such as of versus more than. Finally, this reading will introduce you to some common abuses of percentages.
