HUM 105 Week 2 Altered States Presentation

Often times, people within cultures willingly alter their states of consciousness in order to achieve visions about life, creation, death, or personal revelations. For this assignment, you will be looking at how cultures alter consciousness, for what purpose, and to what effect.

Prepare a 5-10 minute presentation choosing one culture or method (modern or ancient) of altering one’s state of consciousness. Consider this in light of mythology, so you are looking for those that do so to achieve a vision or enlightenment about life not just for the euphoria it creates. We will choose presentations in class to avoid overlap.

Create a PowerPoint, Prezi, or some other presentation to explain your research, remembering to look for how they achieve the altered state of consciousness, what the purpose is, and what the effect is for that culture. You will deliver the presentation in class.
