The use of mobile devices has grown very rapidly. IT technicians and professionals must be familiar with the operating systems on these devices. Like desktops and laptops, mobile devices also use operating systems to interface with the hardware and to run software. The two most commonly used mobile operating systems are Android and iOS.
Email, files, and other data stored on mobile devices can be automatically synced over either Wi-Fi or cellular connections for any current Android, iOS, or Windows Phone mobile device.

Chapter 11 goes into great detail regarding operating systems and the individual components of the Windows operating systems. In order to be classified as an operating system, our readings state that the system must provide a user interface and be able to manage files, hardware, and applications. Personally, I would add managing users in here, as I do not believe a modern operating system exists that does not allow for multiple users. IT support technicians should be a power user of Windows 10 and familiar with Windows 8/7.

Reading about virtualization can be difficult for some, as it appears to be a very complex process that is never really explain in full details. One reason is because there are so many configurations (hardware/software/combo) that can be used. Many of us use applications and systems that incorporate virtualization in one way or another, as virtualization is the backbone on which “the cloud” was created. If you have used services such as Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or iCloud, those systems are cloud technologies that are made available by virtualization. If you have taken many IT course here at Phoenix, at some point you have most likely used the virtualized Toolwire Desktop provided to access operating systems such as Linux or a Windows desktop to access to MS Project or MS Visio applications.
