Arts integration is beneficial for every student, and it is especially important for students with special needs to be able to engage in class in ways that encourage their abilities and approaches to learning. Movement and music are often a part of the learning process for these types of students.

 

Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

  • What are the benefits of integrating dance, movement, and music into learning for students with special needs?
  • Research lesson plans that focus on integration of each discipline of dance, music, and movement. Share one lesson plan for each discipline and answer the following questions:
  • Is the focus of the instruction solely on the art form, or does the teacher integrate the art into the other subject? Explain.
  • Does the lesson leverage technology to improve student learning? If so, how? If not, propose a technology-based component that can support the lesson.
  • What ideas do you have for creating lessons that highlight and encourage the abilities of students with special needs?
