Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

In Week 1, you were introduced to the major sources of environmental law, including statutes, regulations, and case law, and the involvement of state and municipal governments in the implementation of federal environmental law. You also learned about the evolution of national policy in regard to environmental regulation. In Week 2, you will focus on two of the major areas of regulation: air and water.

Identify two significant air-quality problems and two significant water quality problems in the United States. What are the national air-quality standards, and how are they implemented? What are the national water quality standards? How are permits used to control pollutant discharges? What is the state role in relation to these federal requirements?
