ENV 410 Wk 5 Team – Contaminant Treatment Plan
Access the ATSDR website.
Collaborate with your group to develop a toxicology treatment plan for the contaminants you outlined in the Contaminant Scavenger Hunt in Wk 4.
Create a Quick Reference Guide of your group’s treatment plan using a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation (about 14 to 16 slides total). First select two contaminant examples from each classification in the classification list below. There should be a total of 10 contaminants.
o heavy metal
o harmful solvent
o volatile organic compound or vapor
o pesticide
o radiation
Create ten content slides. Each slide must refer to one contaminant and include the following:
- Classification of the contaminant (as listed above)
- Possible sources of each contaminant within your environment
- Effects on plants and humans
- How each contaminant is absorbed–route of exposure–and distributed–transport
- Toxic response, or symptoms
- How each contaminant is eliminated, or detoxification
- Effect on the environment
- What to do if you are exposed: What is the treatment?
Note: It is acceptable if some contaminants take more than one slide.
Include one additional slide for introduction and one additional slide for conclusion.
Suggested Overall Layout (total presentation should be about 14-16 slides):
- Cover Slide with everyone’s name that contributed to the assignment
- Introduction slide highlighting presentation content
- 10 content slides with one slide per contaminant including content list above (note it’s ok if some contaminants take more than one slide)
- Conclusion slide with overall team conclusion
- Reference slides
Cite your sources for each slide using separate reference slides at the end.
Use the speaker notes within the presentation as if you were giving an oral presentation along with the slides.
Format your citations consistent with APA guidelines.
