In 2020, a pandemic engulfed the world due to variants of the coronavirus. In the United States, the functioning of federal, state, and local agencies almost came to a halt. Many social changes, such as mask wearing, quickly evolved. Public administrators were forced to find new ways to operate to continue to serve the public.

Imagine your boss has asked you to find an example of an agency taking discretionary action related to the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.

Create a 10- to 15-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation with speaker’s notes detailing your findings (at least three sentences per content slide). Address the following in your presentation:

Define agency discretion.

Identify the discretionary action.

Discuss whether the discretionary action resulted in a social change.

List the pros and cons of the identified discretionary action.

Explain whether you agree with the discretionary action.

Be sure to start the slide show (after the Title Page slide) with an Introduction or road map slide and then end it with a Conclusion slide. Cover all the major topical areas of the assignment with your content slides. Your challenge will be to come up with bullet points (stay away from sentences and paragraphs; leave these for your speaker’s notes in your content slides).
