Staying motivated can, at times, be a challenge to anyone, even the most driven and optimistic person you know. And it’s no surprise that your level of motivation directly affects your learning and academic success. One method of reminding you of your values, goals, or dreams is to keep them visible. For the final component of your personalized student success plan, you will be creating a vision board. A vision board is a collage of images, pictures, and affirmations of one’s dreams, desires, and goals designed to serve as a source of inspiration and motivation.

Part 1: Vision Board

Complete the following steps to create your personal vision board:

  1. Fill out the Vision Board Scratch Pad to brainstorm the goals that you will include on your vision board. Note: You do not need to submit the Vision Board Sketch Pad. Use it as a tool to help create your Vision Board.
  2. Select one of the following options to create your vision board:
  3. Physical version using a poster board or a large piece of paper
  4. Digital version using Microsoft® Word, PowerPoint®, Prezi, Sway, or a similar faculty-approved software
  5. Search for images and words that represent your goals, motivations, and the actions you will take for each category on the Vision Board Scratch Pad. You can search for images and words in magazines, newspapers, or online to print (if creating the poster board) or save images and words to your computer (if creating the digital version).
  6. Organize your vision board into the sections from the Vision Board Scratch Pad.
  7. Write the goals, motivations, and actions that you identified on your Vision Board Scratch Pad into the sections on your vision board.
  8. Add the words and images from your search as well as any hand-written messages or drawings that you created to your vision board.
  9. Display your vision board in a place where you can see it each day.

Note: Your vision board must include both words and images to represent your goals.

Part 2: Vision Board Reflection Worksheet

1) Complete and Upload the Vision Board Reflection Worksheet.

2) Upload and Submit the digital version or an image of your completed vision board, as well as your completed Vision Board Reflection Worksheet.
