Post a total of 3 substantive responses over 2 separate days for full participation. This includes your initial post and 2 replies to classmates or your faculty member.

Due Thursday

Research various ways to teach letters of the alphabet to children. Consider some of the following options as you conduct your research:

  • Educational videos and songs that teach letters of the alphabet (e.g., “Between the Lions” TV series, PBS shows, etc.)
  • Hands-on activities to reinforce letters of the alphabet (e.g., using playdough, shaving cream, magnetic letters, etc.)
  • Online websites and apps that teach or reinforce letter recognition or letter sounds

Choose 1 or 2 activities, methods, or other resources to share with the class.

Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

  • How might you use this activity, method, or resource to introduce or reinforce letter recognition?
  • From your personal experiences and observations, what have you observed to be effective when it comes to teaching the alphabet to young children? What has seemed to be less effective (or ineffective)?

Review the College’s Conceptual Framework and answer the following question:

  • How does this topic link to the College’s Conceptual Framework and the framework’s philosophical relationship to effective teacher preparation?

Due Monday

Post 2 replies to classmates or your faculty member. Be constructive and professional.
