In Week One, you were introduced to cell division, chromosomes, and patterns of inheritance. Week Two examines the structures that facilitate those processes: DNA, RNA, and proteins. Genetic information is stored in DNA and encoded in a form that is nearly universal in all living things on Earth.

 

What are the key properties of the genetic code? Given that the genomes of all organisms are made up of As, Ts, Cs, and Gs, how does one account for diversity in organisms? What are some factors that could adversely affect diversity in nature?
