Locate an example for 3 of the 10 following types of communication types or genres:

  • Business card
  • Public announcement or speech
  • Rules and regulations
  • Policy manual

BPA 200 Week 5 Public Information Officer Plan

You are the new officer assigned as the police department’s Public information Officer (PIO).  Employeed by a small to mid-sized metropolitan police agency. Until this point in time the agency has never had a large incident with public concern and outcry. The agency was just involved in an officer involved shooting where the officer was completely justified in his actions however false information has surfaced that the suspect was unarmed. The incident occurred in a grocery store parking lot in the early morning hours with no witnesses present. Investigators have obtained a video of the incident from the grocery store and have provided footage to the public information office. The chief wants the video released in the next 24 hours for transparency and open communication with the community.

Write a 1,400- to 1,750-word paper that includes the following:

  • Describe the genre(s) of communication(s) that are most effective in this situation (paper format, social media, public announcement, press release, televised media conference, etc.)
  • How will this information be communicated to groups and teams within the organization?
