Clear and effective communication skills include assessing verbal and nonverbal attending actions. Recognizing the explicit meaning of words, along with their implicit messages, can reinforce accurate exchange of ideas and bring meaning between the human service professional and client.

Write a team paper thatdemonstrates the following 5 skillful interviewing topics.  Write at least one paragraph for each of these 5 topics.  Paragraphs should be at least 40 words.  Make sure to have at least one quote from a source in each paragraph of the paper.  Feel free to use the weekly reading, sources in my class discussion posts or research to find sources.

Tip:  Write the topic(s) you selected in the week 3 team charter before starting the reading in the required learning activity box.  Look for quotes you can use and make notes while you are doing your reading for the week.  Feel free to use quotes from sources I mention in my class discussion posts.

    (2 points, 1 point for at least one referenced quote or paraphrase from a source)

  5. How will effective phrasing and questioning guide a human service professional in gaining information from clients?

    (2 points, 0.5 points for at least one referenced quote or paraphrase from a source)

Include an introduction paragraph that previews the major points of the paper.  And include a conclusion paragraph that reviews the major points of the paper. (1 point) 

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines. Don’t forget to reference all quotes and paraphrases from your source(s).  (1 point)  Include a reference section at the bottom of your paper.  (1 point)  You might want to check out Reference and Citation Generator.  There is a link at the bottom of your assignment description.

Format your paper so that:

* Sentences are complete and clear.

* Spelling is correct.

* Grammar is appropriate to this level of coursework.

use subheadings: Make sure to put a subheading above each of the 5 sections of the paper.  For example “five ways of sending and receiving messages” above the paragraph about five ways of sending and receiving messages.  (1 point)
