There are many times when individuals have a bias toward a specific group of people, and they are unaware that they have this bias. This bias may affect the way the individual interacts with others, so it is important to examine areas for possible bias so that we can work towards eliminating them.

 

Each team member will complete the following:

 

Access Project Implicit.

 

Read through the disclaimer and click “I wish to proceed.”

 

Choose one bias test based on something with which you are comfortable and one test for something with which you are not comfortable.

 

Complete each test.

 

Review your results.

 

Discuss your results with your teammates and consider the following questions:

  • What was your experience taking these tests?

  • What was surprising to you about the results? If nothing, explain why.

  • How do you think these results will (or will not) help you in working with clients who may represent the population you chose to test your bias?

 

Write a 350- to 700-word summary of your team discussion. Include the following:

  • Describe areas that were similar between the teammates’ responses.

  • Describe areas that may have been different between the teammates’ responses.

  • Examine how the similarities and differences may affect multicultural counseling between different counselors.

  • Explain what you have discovered as areas of improvement based on this experience.

  • Describe your plan for improving in those areas.

 

Include a minimum of two sources.

 

Format your paper according to appropriate course-level APA guidelines.
