The Integrated Unit and Presentation is a Learning Team assignment due in Week 4. Each team member is responsible for developing at least one lesson plan for the unit. Use the following guidelines as you develop your Integrated Unit:

  • Choose one of the five NCSS disciplinary standards and integrate at least one other primary content area: reading and language arts, science, or mathematics.
  • Apply the course knowledge about strategies and educational materials to the design of your unit. Use creative and original activities. Remember to include activities for students with special needs or to adapt activities as needed.
  • Apply various theoretical perspectives to the lesson design.
  • Each lesson must include national or state standard(s) addressed, age or grade level, at least one technology component, and differentiated instruction.
  • Use a variety of developmentally effective assessment strategies for the lessons and for the unit.
  • All materials and activities that are not original to the team should be identified as “adapted from…” or “designed by….” Remember to include the author’s name for all referenced or copied materials.
  • Include a reference page cited according to APA guidelines of books, videos, CDs, or websites that are used in the unit.
  • Include an appendix with all materials or resources and information that will be necessary for other teachers to reproduce the lessons or unit.
