This week focuses on the integration of arts across the early childhood curriculum and compares child-centered and teacher-directed art. When integrating arts into the general curriculum there are many things to consider such as appropriate balance between content area and the arts, what form of art to use, or teacher-directed versus child-centered experience. How would you prioritize the importance of content area integration, developmentally appropriate activities, and teaching approach in the development of a lesson? Do you believe that arts should be integrated across the curriculum or a stand-alone subject? Explain and provide specific examples to support your responses.
