The relationships between schools, teachers, and the community are very important. Therefore, it’s not surprising that the community that surrounds a school will have values and expectations in relation to the schools and the educations being provided. As a teacher, it will prove to be an invaluable skill to balance personal values and beliefs with community values and expectations pertaining to educational decisions. Provide examples of situations where personal and community values might influence professional decisions. What are some ways to minimize negative influences in these situations? Explain and provide rationale to support your response.
