EDU 321 Week 4 Classroom Observation Reflection Paper

Observe classroom management in an elementary school classroom. During your observation, look for the following:

• Teacher’s management style
• How the teacher interacts with students
• Classroom arrangement
• Examples of mutual respect
• Enforcing and reinforcing classroom expectations
• Preventative procedures and activities

Interview the teacher and ask the following questions:

• What classroom management theory do you use?
• What are the expectations of your administration and district in building your classroom management plan?
• Does the discipline model of the school and district vary from yours? Explain.
• What has been the most effective way to communicate with a disruptive child’s parent or guardian?
• Do you communicate with families of students who have positive behaviors? How often?
• What training, workshop, article, or book would you recommend to a new teacher that would help them be successful in classroom management?

Create a presentation or write a reflection paper on your observations and insights, following the observation and teacher interview.

Document the observations on My Time Log.

Format your paper according to APA guidelines.
