EED 435 Week 4 Observation Reflection

Observe a visual or performing arts lesson for elementary school children. All students need to arrange to observe an elementary level (K-6) visual or performing arts lesson for this observation requirement. Be sure to review the instructions for this observation. You must observe a visual or performing arts focused lesson at the elementary level (K-6) to earn proper credit for the observation assignment. Observations conducted in other focused content (other subjects like math, science, social studies, etc.), or at non-elementary levels (junior high, middle school, or high school), even if the arts are being integrated, will result in significant grade penalties. Please ask if you have questions on this requirement.

Write a 700- to 1,050-word reflection paper of your observation.

Include the following in your paper

  • Background information, including school name, grade level, teacher, and lesson topic
  • Types and uses of resources, including community resources
  • Classroom management and procedures
  • Management of equipment and supplies
  • Safety issues
  • Lesson plan elements
  • Instruction of diverse learners
  • Appropriate use of vocabulary
  • Integration of visual and performing arts with other content areas
  • Assessment strategies used
  • Evaluation of how the students responded to the lesson
  • Reflection on how you might change any part of the lesson, including the assessments
  • Evaluation of the effectiveness of the arts integration

Format your paper according to APA guidelines.

*Note: If any of the aforementioned elements were not present in your experience, provide possible rationale as to why the element was not present.

Submit your assignment.
