Write a 700- to 1,050-word essay in which you explain the theme of the story.

  • Create a thesis statement that makes a claim about the overriding theme of the story from your perspective.

  • Support your thesis with at least two academic sources from the University Library. These are in addition to citing the textbooks as sources.

  • Identify and explain the use of significant literary elements in the story and how they contribute to the overall theme.

Format your paper consistent with MLA guidelines. (Note. Students who are not enrolled in the BA in English program may use APA formatting without penalty.)
