In Weeks 1 and 2, you learned about the formation of the Constitution, and the three branches of the federal government created in the Constitution. In Week 3, you will focus on the origins and importance of the Bill of Rights, which was incorporated into the Constitution as the first ten Amendments.

 

  • Why was the Bill of Rights (the first ten Amendments) added to the Constitution? What are its origins?

  • What rights, in general, are guaranteed by the first ten Amendments to the Constitution?

  • How many amendments have been made to the Constitution?

  • How would you describe the process for and importance of amending the Constitution to a class of 7th graders?
