HS 255 Week 4 Emotional Labor and Community Programs

Read Chapter 15 of Human Services as Complex Organizations. This chapter is about emotional labor and service delivery. Fold the tenets of Emotional Labor into your presentation. Keep in mind that emotional labor can be one of the most rewarding aspects of human services.

Create an 8- to 10-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation on community assistance programs. You may use large scale programs, such as Meals on Wheels, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Adoption or a small scale agency. Some of the smaller programs, are as effective. Include the following:

• Select 2-3 agencies to showcase.
• Describe characteristics of each agency and who the agencies services.
• Describe why person-to-person or voice-to-voice interaction is at the core of human service work.
• How does the chapter define emotional labor?
• Describe the methods unique to each model, and explain how they reduce relapse.

Include a minimum of two sources.
