Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

The 1960s and 1970s saw the formation of significant protest and social movements including the Civil Rights movement, Mexican American farm worker unionization, the American Indian Movement (AIM), anti-war protests, the LGBT movement, the second wave of feminism, and the environmental movement. It was and is a unique moment in American history, a moment that still reverberates in modern America.

Consider one or more of the protest/social movements of the 1960s or 1970s.

• What was the movement’s key objectives?

• Were these objectives achieved? Why or why not?

• Consider the same group today. What is the status of that group? Is it still active and in what ways? How have the objectives stayed the same or changed?

• What lasting effect did the movement have on American culture and/or society?

Due Monday
