IT 200 Wk 5 – Data Breaches and Malware Presentation

The head of the IT security team at your company expressed her concerns about a series of recent data breaches that occurred at similar companies and wants to take a proactive approach at your company by providing training to employees. As the IT training manager, you have been asked to do research and create a training presentation that will be viewed by all employees. The training must cover information about data breaches, malware, and how to stay safe at work. **Remember, this is for a company, not a personal computer… Your presentation will be seen by all company employees, so the information must be clear, professional, concise, and informative.

Based on research and what you learned in this class, include the following in your presentation:

Part 1:

  • What is a data breach? Define what this is for the employees
  • Share two examples of recent data breaches from the news
  • Share three preventive measures that the employees can take against data breaches (physical and/or digital)

Part 2:

  • Define malware – what is it and what is at least one example of malware that employees should know about?
  • Share at least two preventive measures against malware (how can employees keep themselves safe)
  • Share tips (or signs to watch for) for employees to determine if their company computer may be infected with malware
  • Provide instructions on what to do if an employee thinks their company computer may have been infected with malware **tip: employees would not typically be asked to handle it themselves… it must be reported and handled properly.

Create a 10-slide (minimum) PowerPoint presentation with detailed speaker notes, a title slide, a reference slide (remember to cite all research), and appropriate/professional graphics and design.

Submit your assignment.
