MGT 498 Week 2 Learning Team Assignment: Learning Team Charter

Purpose of Assignment

This Learning Team assignment is designed to help students with the following:

1. Overview – In this course, your Learning Team will work together to complete a number of assignments (i.e., projects). This chartering assignment is designed to help you apply your project management skills toward understanding the scope of your projects, then break the projects into goals, tasks, responsibilities, resources, and milestones. This assignment also requires you to discuss and answer some questions that will lay the foundation for developing your projects.
2. Beyond the Standard Charter – You should notice that this chartering process goes beyond the standard University of Phoenix Charter by helping your Learning Team create project plans for team success. This planning process provides you with the opportunities to define your project deliverables, recognize connections between the deliverables and other classroom activities, determine your project timelines and milestones, identify each Learning Team member’s expected project contributions, and answer important behavior questions that lay the foundation for developing your projects, including the identification of appropriate repercussions for failing to meet agreed-upon expectations.
3. Putting “I” in “Team” – Important to note is the section for defining Learning Team expectations related to participation, collaboration, communication, team contributions, assignment deadlines, and other considerations. Make the time to discuss and document how your team will address each area, and any challenges that may arise. It is important to understand that University of Phoenix is “Putting ‘I’ in ‘Team.'” In short, instructors will recognize and reward individuals according to their contributions to team output, not according to their team membership. This means that individual grades may be different than the team grade depending on each individual’s contribution to the project deliverable.

Assignment Requirements

Create a Learning Team Charter that includes specific, actionable and measurable details for the following:

1. Reliable Learning Team member contact information.
2. A project plan for each Learning Team assignment in this course (note you will need to add an additional deliverable section in each week, as each week has two deliverables, and for the W3 paper and W4 presentation, be sure to identify your selected subject companies in your project plans).
3. Ground rules for Learning Team engagement, including appropriate repercussions for any team members who may fail to meet them.
