• Considering the forces in the global environment, what might some of the implications of demographic forces be for the industry you work in?
• What are the advantages and disadvantages of technological change?
• How can information technology lead to beneficial changes within the workplace?

Scenario 2: IT and Organizations with Many Layers

According to Jones, G. R. (2020) to be useful, information must be of high quality, be timely, be relevant, and be as complete as possible.

• Why does a tall management hierarchy, when used as a management information system, have negative effects on these desirable attributes?
• What is the relationship between IT and competitive advantage?

Scenario 3: Rapid Advances in IT

According to Jones, G. R. (2020) rapid advances in IT have been associated with a “delayering” (flattening) of the organizational hierarchy, a move toward greater decentralization and horizontal information flows within organizations, and the concept of the boundaryless organization.
