This week focuses on applications of measurement. One of the basic concepts of geometry is learning to calculate the perimeter and area of two-dimensional shapes. Once that is mastered, you can calculate surface area and volume for three-dimensional shapes.

Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

  • How would you explain to a classmate the difference between perimeter and area of two-dimensional shapes? How about the difference between surface area and volume of three-dimensional shapes? What examples or activities would you use to help a classmate understand the differences?
