While the individual states have different approaches to setting up their constitutions, they all have some central elements to help set up and manage powers of the state government. This week, we explore state government and the state constitutional guidelines.

As you reflect on the powers that are granted through these state constitutions, what do you deem essential in creating a successful state government?

If changes need to be made, what mechanisms should be in place to help amend the state constitutions?

If there is a conflict between a state’s constitution and the U.S. Constitution, which prevails? Why?
