EDU 315 Wk 5 – Summative Assessment: New Teacher Preparation Presentation

You’ve been asked to create a presentation for new staff members joining your school in the next school year. To ensure they’re prepared, cover employment responsibilities related to the certification process. Highlight 3 of the most important school district policies for the new staff members, including consequences for teachers who choose not to adhere to these policies. In addition, explain the importance of due process.

Develop a 10- to 15-slide presentation that includes the information outlined in Parts 1 and 2 below.

Part 1: Research the certification process for your state and provide answers to the following questions:

• What types of pre-employment screenings and background checks are needed in your state? Where do you go to complete these steps?

• What specific steps are involved in becoming certified to teach in your state?

• How often must teachers renew their certificates in your state? What steps are involved in the renewal process?

Part 2: Select 3 district policies to highlight in your presentation and include the following:

• 1 slide about each policy

• Any federal or state laws that apply to each policy

• An explanation of due process and how it affects teachers

Include a title slide, an introduction slide, and a concluding slide, as well as speaker notes on each slide.

Format your assignment according to APA guidelines and include a reference slide.
