EED 425 Wk 3 – Adapting Lesson Plans

Assume you are a health and physical education teacher in a new school. Your class consists of diverse learners, including learners with intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, and ADHD. To ensure smooth and effective running of your classrooms, you must create lesson plans for the month and/or make accommodations and modifications to your existing lesson plans to meet the needs of these diverse learners. Here is what you must do,

Choose an elementary grade level and modify (existing lesson plans) or create both a health and a physical education lesson plan for that grade level.

Research health and physical education lesson plans for that grade level and select 1 lesson plan for each to adapt.

Revise each lesson to include the following:

• Accommodations and modifications for the following diverse learners:
• Learners with an intellectual disability
• Learners with autism spectrum disorder
• Learners with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
• New resources needed for the lesson, including technology.
• Formative assessment, to include accommodations and/or modifications for the diverse learners

Compile the following for submission:

• Original lesson plan with assessment
