Think about teachers who you feel are excellent reading teachers. Do some additional research on highly effective literacy teachers, including their characteristics and approaches to literacy instruction.

Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

• What are some practices and/or characteristics of highly effective literacy teachers (based on your own personal experiences and research)?
• What are some examples of reading approaches or reading methods that are supported by the science of reading? Have you seen any of these methods or approaches used in the classrooms you have worked in or observed? If so, please share.
• What role do content standards play in reading instruction? Why is it important for a teacher to know the standards for the grade levels below and above the one they teach?
