CCMH 511 Wk 3 – Skill Demonstration Role-Play, Transcript, and Summary

As you learn new counseling skills each week, it is important to obtain feedback on your progress. This assignment allows you to demonstrate the skills you have practiced this week with your partner and will provide you with feedback on your strengths and areas for improvement, which you can incorporate into future assignments.

Choose a classmate as your partner for this assignment. (Ideally, the same partner from previous weeks). You will both take turns playing the role of counselor and client.

Review the role play instructions for tips on using Bongo.

Create a 10-minute video using Bongo to demonstrate reflecting feelings.

Document the time of your video role-play as a counselor, noting when you are reflecting feelings at each point in your demonstration.

Write a 350- to 700-word summary of your experience that focuses on feelings of reflection in the video assignment.

Include the following in your summary:

• A brief summary of the exercise
• The difficulties they experienced in focusing on the client’s feelings, rather than on the content, story narrative, or facts
• Description of your experiences in the process of trying to identify feelings during the interview

Submit the video link of you playing the role of counselor in Bongo and the summary.
