Reflect on your personal philosophy of early childhood education. Your philosophy is based on your thoughts and beliefs about children, teaching, and learning. A personal philosophy guides a teacher’s practices and interactions with children. When you have a clear definition of your own philosophy, you can help children to learn and develop to their fullest potential. 

Brainstorm by reflecting on the following questions:

  • What is the purpose of early childhood education?
  • How do children develop?
  • How do children learn?
  • Who is responsible for educating young children?
