ECH 321 Week 4 Early Childhood Setting Observation Reflection

Conduct two separate observations of two different play settings (indoor and outdoor).

*Note. Use the BSED/ECH Field Experience Matrix located in the Teacher Education Handbook on the College of Education Resources page as a resource.

Compare and contrast your observations of the pre-kindergarten to Grade 3 settings.

Describe how each setting promotes development in all areas. Pay close attention to physical, social, and cognitive development.

Prepare a 350- to 700-word reflection paper that compares each observation.

Reflect on the following aspects:

  • Description of learning climate
  • Components of observed learning activities or lessons
  • Materials and resources used
  • Health or safety considerations
  • Discourse between teacher and children
  • Interactions between children

Remember to document your observations on My Time Log.

Click the Assignment Files tab to submit your assignment.

Note: Students enrolled in the Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) do not need to track their field experience hours using My Time Log.
