Access and review P21.org.

Identify an integrated instructional unit with which you are familiar. This might be a unit you developed for a previous course, a unit that you would like to teach, or a published instructional unit.

Identify the academic standards and 21st-century skills that integrated instructional unit supports.

Create one high quality instructional objective for each of the following academic areas: math, reading, social studies, and science, and one high quality instructional objective for at least two different 21st-century skills. The instructional objectives need to support the integrated instructional unit and be aligned to the CCSS or similar standards adopted by your state.

Develop a 7- to 10-slide presentation that includes:

  • an overview of the integrated instructional unit, including the source of that unit
  • the adoption and current use of the CCSS or similar standards in your state
  • the elementary grade level that your identified integrated instructional unit and instructional objectives are intended for
  • an explanation of why you selected the identified academic standards and 21st-century skills

Include one appropriate method of assessment for each of your instructional objectives (objective test, authentic-type assessment, portfolio), and explain why you have chosen these methods of assessment.
