EED 430 Week 2 Social Studies Lesson Plan

Review your state’s academic standards for social studies and the “College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies State Standards.”

Select one of the strands of social studies for a specific grade level.

Identify the appropriate mastery level for the grade level you selected, based on the “Suggested K-12 Pathway for College, Career, and Civic Readiness” in Dimension 2 of the “College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies State Standards.”

Create a lesson plan for that strand that can be delivered in a classroom over a two-day period.

Provide the following for each day of the lesson:

• State and local standards that support your lesson
• Student objectives and student tasks that are measurable
• Teacher objectives and teaching goals that include appropriate scope and sequence
• Various differentiated activities and specific tasks to include and accommodate various learning styles and diverse populations of learning abilities
• Strategies to adjust and modify the learning environment, such as individual, collaborative and cooperative groups, pairing, and so on
• Inclusion of a cooperative learning strategy
• Inclusion of technology and print resources
• Inclusion of closure or assessments (formative or summative)
• Research to support the educational decisions you made such as instructional strategies, content, concepts, and assessment methods

*Note: This lesson can be used in the Integrated Unit for Week 5, integrating at least one of the following subjects: math, science, language arts, music, or art.
