ENG 100 Wk 5 Discussion – Reflection and Resources

You have reached Week 5, and you are surely a different writer now than you were at the start of the course! You have implemented a weekly journal practice, created your own narrative, responded to another author’s writing and supported your position, and created a cover letter that highlights your career skills. Impressive!

As this course winds down, you will finish building your portfolio by completing an academic essay using support from the article you are reading. You can build upon the writing you did earlier in the course to craft this essay. You also have the opportunity to reflect on your progress as a writer and consider where you feel there is still room to grow.

Congratulations on all the work you have done through this course to develop your skills as an academic writer. You have created a good foundation on which to continue to build your identity as a scholarly writer. Keep writing!

Post a total of 3 substantive responses over 2 separate days for full participation. This includes your initial post and 2 replies to classmates or your faculty member.

Due Thursday

This week’s assignment is to create an essay in response to source material.

You are encouraged to reflect on what you have learned in this course as a whole and what skills from this course you are taking with you into your upcoming courses and degree program.

Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

  • How would you describe your writing confidence before and after this coursework? How does this apply to your work on your final essay?

Note: Consider retaking the Basic Skills Assessment you took in Week 1. What is your score now? How have you improved? What are some areas where you would like to see more development? Feel free to incorporate this into your discussion response this week.

Due Monday

Post 2 replies to classmates or your faculty member. Be constructive and professional.
