IT 200 Wk 3 – Point of Sale System Presentation

As the new manager of a family-owned convenience store, you have noticed issues with the current method of tracking sales using paper sales tickets and Excel spreadsheets, as well as, shortages on some of the more popular items carried in the store. You have been asked to do research on an automated Point of Sale system that could improve the current sales and tracking methods.

Research a new Point of Sale (POS) system that could be used to upgrade the store. You will be presenting this information to the store owners and will need to convince them why the upgrade is needed. **Examples of POS systems are Square, Shopkeep, Revel, Quickbooks POS, Lightspeed, Clover, Vend, etc. There are many choices; do some research on POS systems to find one that you like best. Based on your research choose one POS that could be used to upgrade the convenience store for this assignment.

Include the following (it’s best to make one slide for each item and put them in this order):

  • Given an overview/introduction of the recommended POS
  • Compare your recommendation to the current method of paper sales tickets and Excel spreadsheets; why is your recommendation a better choice than what the store currently uses?
  • How would your recommendation improve efficiency and accuracy with sales and inventory?
  • How/where will the data be stored in the new system compared to the current method of Excel spreadsheets? Is it cloud-based? On a store computer? On a server? If a server, is it on-site or off-site?
  • In order to resolve the stock shortages, how would owners be notified that items were low and need to be reordered? **be specific – what kind of notifications? how would they receive the notifications?
  • What other features are included in your recommendation that could help the store overall?

  • Create a PowerPoint presentation with a minimum of 8 slides (including a title and reference slide). Use appropriate graphics, a professional design, and detailed speaker’s notes.

Submit your assignment.
