Imagine you are currently teaching in a third-grade classroom and notice that one student is struggling to read third-grade text fluently. He is also a reluctant reader and will do just about anything to avoid reading.

Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

• What signs or symptoms would you expect to see in a student struggling with fluency?
• What are 2 assessment tools you might use to evaluate this student’s reading skills?
• What strategies or interventions might you use with this student to strengthen his fluency skills? How could you get parents involved in working on these fluency skills at home?
